Obverse

The obverse bears American sculptor, Augustus Saint-Gauden's design of Liberty holding a torch in her right hand and an olive branch in her left. The engraver's initials ASG are in relief below the year date.

Reverse

The reverse features a large eagle carrying an olive branch, flying above a nest containing a female eagle and eaglets. The coin bears the inscription:
