This is a 1996 one ounce gold Eagle coin, issued by the United States Mint. These bullion coins are struck in 0.9167 fineness (22 carat) gold and have a face value of $50.
Only 189,148 1oz Eagles were struck in 1996 making this the second lowest mintage.
This coin comes loose and you can add a 33mm capsule or gift box to your order in the basket.
The US Mint introduced the modern Eagle in 1986 to supply the large American market with a bullion coin which was sold at a low premium over the intrinsic metal value. Demand continues to grow for both physical gold and silver ensuring the Eagle remains the favourite investment coin in America.
The Eagle is a popular coin with both investors and coin collectors all over the world.
The obverse features a magnificent version of American sculptor Augustus Saint-Gauden's full length figure of Liberty with flowing hair, holding a torch in her right hand and an olive branch in her left. The engraver's initials ASG are placed in relief to the right of the figure below the year date.
The reverse features a male eagle carrying an olive branch, flying above a nest containing a female eagle and eaglets. This symbolises family tradition and of course, the unity of the United States. The coin bears the inscription:
UNITED STATES OF AMERICA 1 OZ. FINE GOLD - 50 DOLLARS

E PLURIBUS UNUM IN GOD WE TRUST.
