The Royal Mint issued a silver medallion in 1992 to commemorate a millennium of the Office of High Sheriff.

The Office of High Sheriff

The role of the High Sheriff dates back to the Saxon times. Originally their primary job was to keep law and order within a county and collect and return and taxes for the King.

Today the job involves supporting both the monarch and the judiciary system as well as lending support and encouragement to local services.

Obverse

The obverse shows a coat of arms of shrievalty by the Royal Mint engraver, Frederick Mogford. The text reads:

Reverse

The reverse is a shield bearing various heraldic devices, presumably symbolising the Royal Mint, with the legend:

These may have minor scratches or edge knocks, but this does not affect their value. Any coin sold for a value less than a 180% intrinsic is considered a bullion coin.
VAT:
Investment gold products are VAT-free, while silver products include VAT.
Cancellations & Returns:
Once you place an order, you cannot cancel it. We do not currently accept returns, however. You may be able to sell your investment products back to Chards at the current buy back rate.
