The 1991 Gold Kangaroo Nugget 0.1 oz Perth Mint Bullion Coins are produced by the Perth Mint in Australia with a declared mintage of 150,000!

The reverse of the commemorative coin features a Kangaroo, designed by Dr Stuart Devlin, and the obverse features Queen Elizabeth II 3rd portrait by Raphael Maklouf.

The reverse design depicts a Grey Kangaroo, one of the most common species of Kangaroo in Australia. They are easily identifiable by their grey fur!

This coin comes in bullion condition and is in a capsule.

Grey Kangaroos

A male Grey Kangaroo (Buck or Boomer) can grow up to 6.6 feet (2m) tall whilst females (Doe) typically grow to around 5 feet (1.5m) tall. There are two main varieties of Grey Kangaroo, Eastern and Western.

Why is the Nugget popular?

The Gold Nugget coin series was first introduced in 1986 as a competitor to other countries coins such as the Maple, Krugerrand and Britannia. The Nugget series originally started with having famous gold nuggets discovered in Australia on the reverse. In 1989 they produced a nugget reverse design and a kangaroo reverse design. From 1990 onwards all proof and bullion designs now have a kangaroo on the reverse.
