The engraver's initials ASG are in relief below the year date to the right of the figure. The date is shown in Roman numerals as MCMLXXXVII (1987).
The reverse bears a male eagle carrying an olive branch in its tallons, above a nest containing a female eagle and her hatchlings.
The coin bears the inscription:
