The gold proof coin, struck by the Pobjoy Mint, was struck in 22 carat fine gold (0.9167 Fineness) and has the same weight as a sovereign (7.98g).

The coin comes with a presentation box and a certificate of authenticity.

Only 1,000 of these coins were minted.

The Queen Mother

Elizabeth Bowes-Lyon was born 4th August 1900. At the age of 23 she married Prince Albert who was second in line to the throne.

When Albert's brother, King Edward VIII unexpectedly abdicated the throne in order to persue a relationship with the divorced Wallis Simpson, Prince Albert was made the new King. He took on the role of King George VIII whilst Elizabeth was made Queen Consort.
