Produced by 'Rand Refinery' in South Africa, the first Krugerrand was issued in 1967 and quickly became one of the most popular traded 1 oz gold coins around the globe.

Designed by Otto Schultz, the obverse shows a portrait image of Paul Kruger; politician and leader of the Boers between 1883 - 1902.

Reverse

The reverse of the Krugerrand depicts the iconic national animal of South Africa - the Springbok (Antelope)

The inscription reads:
