Bicentenial of the Revestment Act of 1765

The Isle of Man, or Manx as it is often known as, government issued gold coins for the first time in 1965. This uncirculated three coin set struck in 22 carat gold comprises a five pounds, sovereign (pound), and half sovereign and commemorates the Bicentenial of the Revestment Act of 1765.

Fleur de Coin

Please note that the coins in these sets are *almost FDC, there may be some very small light surface marks. In 1965, it was not standard practice to package coins in plastic capsules, the coins often came out of there recesses and were allowed to rub against each other.

We also stock this set in a proof finish and have a small number of proof sets which are available at a reduced premium as they have more surface scratches or have been cleaned.

Obverse

The obverse bears a beautiful uncouped coin portrait of Elizabeth II by Thomas Humphrey Paget. The engraver's initials HP are positioned below the bust and the coin bears the inscription:

BICENTENARY OF THE REVESTMENT ACT 1765 1965.

Reverse

Designed by John Hobson Nicholson, an artist famous for his landscapes of the Isle of Man, the reverse engraving features the Manx coat of arms with the famous three triskele within a curved triangular shield. The engraver's initials JHN are located below the Celtic border which represents the island's Celtic and Norse origins.

The reverse bears the legend:

QUOCUNQUE · JECERIS · STABIT · 1965 ·
