  • Presentation: Issued in presentation box

Please Note: the medallions have small imperfections, and do not come with certificates of authenticity.

Legacy of Sir Winston Spence Churchill

Sir Winston Churchill is often described as the "greatest living Englishman". A man of many talents, he is known for being a soldier, politician, writer and an artist. He served as Prime Minister twice. His first term of office was from 1940 until 1945. He saw Britain through the Second World War, his words of courage helping the nation through the difficult time. His second term of office was from 1951-1955.

Winston Churchill's Famous Speech

On June 4th, 1940, during World War II, Winston Churchill delivered a speech titled 'We shall fight on the beaches,' in which he explained that Britain would resist Nazi rule wherever it manifested, and that surrender was not an option.

B.A Seaby of London

For many years one of the leading UK coin dealers was B.A Seaby before they were taken over by CNG (Classical Numismatic Group).

The designs of both the gold and silver medallions feature identical motifs. Originally, these designs were adapted from the Victory medal issued in 1945 at the conclusion of the Second World War, symbolising Britain's triumph over the Axis nations.

Obverse

This notable large medal showcases a finely detailed left-profile depiction of Churchill in substantial relief. The engraving skillfully portrays Sir Winston donning a collar and tie.

Adjacent to the distinguished figure's likeness is the inscription "CHURCHILL", while the year 1945 overlays a letter "V" symbolizing Victory. Below the neckline, the name of the engraver is proudly displayed.
