This 1937 shilling is struck in proof condition. The coin has a milled edge.
Bust of George VI facing left by T. Humphrey Paget. The engraver's initials H.P. can be seen under the neck near the right hand side.
The obverse inscription reads:
GEORGIUS VI D G BR OMN REX
The reverse design is the Scottish version of the coin. It features a lion atop the royal crown. He is sat holding a sword and sceptre. The text reads "FID DEF IND IMP ONE SHILLING". The date appears on either side of the lion. It was designed by G. Kruger Gray.
