1819 George III crown. The last few years of George III's reign saw a complete revision of the British coinage. For some two or three decades, there had been a shortage of small change, and only sporadic production of many denominations.

The edge is inscribed in raised lettering:

DECUS ET TUTAMEN ANNO REGNI LIX

Obverse

The obverse portrait of George III was designed by Benedetto Pistrucci. His surname 'PISTRUCCI' can be found underneath the truncation. George is shown with a laureate head.

The text reads:

"1819 Georgius III D: G: BRITANNIARUM REX F: D:"

Reverse

The reverse features Benedetto Pistrucci's magnificent design of St. George on horseback slaying the dragon, first used on gold sovereigns of George III in 1817. His full name PISTRUCCI appears underneath the ground.

The legend is shown in the garter:

"HONI SOIT QUI MAL Y PENSE"

Investment gold products are VAT-free, while silver products include VAT.
Cancellations & Returns:
Once you place an order, you cannot cancel it. We do not currently accept returns, however. You may be able to sell your investment products back to Chards at the current buy back rate.
