Gold bars are sub-optimal compared to gold coins as an investment for several reasons. We often advise gold coins over gold bars as many coins come with lower premiums, certain coins benefit from capital gains tax exemption and in our opinion have nice designs. Not only this you can buy and sell fractional amounts of your investment which offers a lot more flexibility and opportunities to play the live gold price. For example if you buy a 1kg bar of gold you have to part with {{PRODUCT_PRICE:559}} when buying or selling whereas you could buy a multiple of gold Britannia coins for roughly the same price but be able to sell one, two or ten these when the price is high and you need not sell the full amount in one go like you would need to do to cash in a gold 1 kilo bar.
