This 2005 Channel Islands Gold Proof £5 Coin Set commemorates the 60th anniversary of the end of World War II.

This striking coin set is made of three gold £5 coins (crown coins), one each from Jersey, Guernsey and Alderney.

The coins were struck by The Royal Mint in 22-carat fine gold, and the issue limit for these sets is just 150.

Channel Islands Coins

The island of Jersey and the other Channel Islands represent the last remnants of the mediaeval Dukedom of Normandy that held sway in both France and England. These islands were the only British soil occupied by German troops in World War II. The three largest Channel Islands of Alderney, Guernsey (or Guernesey), and Jersey all issue their own coins. Some Channel Islands coins are issued with a shared theme, and sometimes in sets, one from each state.

Obverse

The obverse of the coins are mixed. The Alderney coin features the Raphael Maklouf portrait of Queen Elizabth II, while the Jersey and Guernsey coins features the Ian Rank-Broadley portrait.

Reverse

The reverse designs feature:

Alderney: Churchill making the peace sign.

Jersey: VE Day Celebration - people celebrating in front of navy ships.

Guernsey: End of the War Celebration - shows waving soldiers

Cancellations & Returns:
Once you place an order, you cannot cancel it. We do not currently accept returns, however. You may be able to sell your investment products back to Chards at the current buy back rate.
