The 2021 White Greyhound of Richmond 1oz Gold Coin is the tenth release in the exclusive Queen's Beasts bullion range.

These coins are legal tender pound sterling coins, so are exempt from capital gains tax. Each coin contains one troy ounces of 999.9 fine gold.

This coin comes loose and you can add a 33mm capsule or gift box to your order in the basket.

The Queen's Beasts

The Queen's Beasts are a series of ten statues that were created for Elizabeth II's coronation at Westmnister Abbey in 1953. They combine heraldic elements and mythical creatures which form a part of the Queen's royal ancestry. The Royal Mint launched their Queen's Beasts bullion range in 2016. Both the obverse and reverse of the coins were designed by Royal Mint engraver, Jody Clark. The coins have a face value of £100.

White Greyhound of Richmond

Adopted by Henry IV and Henry VII, the White Greyhound of Richmond was originally the regal insignia of the son of King Edward III, John of Gaunt. The Greyhound was synonymous with the town of Richmond, and of honour, naturally lending itself to the knighthood of its Earl. The arms of John reveal a double Tudor rose across a shield, representing the harmony of the descendant houses of Plantagenet - Lancaster and York.

Obverse

The obverse features the fifth definitive coinage portrait of HM The Queen by Jody Clark. The text reads:

Reverse

The reverse features a modern depiction of the The White Greyhound of Richmond, with a shield showing the crowned Tudor rose. The text reads:

The initials of the engraver Jody Clark appear on the bottom left below the shield.
