2019 celebrates the 50th anniversary of the 50p coin. The fifty pence coin was introduced in 1969 and was the world's first seven-sided coin. The brilliant uncirculated coin features a special privy mark to represent the science behind the shape of the coin

To celebrate the 50th anniversary, this coin uses the iconic seated Britannia on the reverse. This appeared on the original coins. The coin also has a privy mark on the reverse to commemorate the event.

Interestingly, this 2019 fifty pence coin is the same specification as current fifty pence coins. When the coin was first issued it was larger (30mm) and weighed more (13.5g) than the current coins. In 1997 the coin was changed to be 27.3mm and 8g.

Obverse

The obverse features Jody Clark's fifth coinage effigy of Queen Elizabeth II.

Reverse

The reverse of the coin shows Christopher Ironside's Britannia design.

Cancellations & Returns:
Once you place an order, you cannot cancel it. We do not currently accept returns, however. You may be able to sell your investment products back to Chards at the current buy back rate.
