Who are the Perth Mint?

The Perth Mint, situated in Australia, is a well-established institution renowned for its expertise in crafting high-quality precious metal products. It is widely recognised for its impeccable reputation in producing a variety of bullion coins and bars, making it a trusted choice for collectors and investors globally.

Each year the Perth Mint's Lunar Series bullion coins are eagerly anticipated by collectors and investors looking for high quality bullion at low premiums above spot. You won't be disappointed in the 2018 designs.

Obverse

The fourth coinage effigy of Queen Elizabeth II appears on the obverse of the coin. This was designed by Ian Rank-Broadley.

Reverse

The coin was designed by Perth Mint designer, Ing Ing Jong, and shows a German Shepherd dog, lying in the grass, alongside a puppy.

The Chinese character for ‘dog’ appears next to some Chinese peony flowers. The peony is the unofficial Chinese National Flower. It stands as a symbol of spring and female beauty and reproduction. It also represents richness, honour and high social class. ‘Year of the Dog’ is written underneath. The Perth Mint mintmark appears on the right of the design.
