Chards Harrowside Premises

Content Marketing and News Editor

Type:

Full Time 40 hours per week. 8.30am-5pm Weekdays and the first Saturday of each month. Ad-hoc flexible hours or working from home can be available at management discretion. 

Salary:

Up to £20,000 - £25,000 based on experience. Ad-hoc overtime available. 

Holidays

28 days (inc. Bank Holidays)

Reports to:

Bullion Manager

Summary

The primary activity is content creation via product pages and information articles on our website www.chards.co.uk. At times this will also involve migration of content from the old sites (taxfreegold.co.uk, 24carat.co.uk and goldsovereigns.co.uk) to our new platform improving on site SEO in terms of content, design and user experience. It is highly desirable for you as the applicant to have an appreciation of both technical and content SEO in order to deliver on this business objectives. 

The second core responsibility is to take a proactive role in bringing global news events affecting precious metal pricing interest and prices to our customer base. You will bring this news to their attention via articles on our site, social media and mailshots.  You should have a basic understanding of the economy, global markets and be comfortable learning new systems and software packages in order to achieve this. 

We are a family run business and a small team so there is no day the same; your role will not be constrained to this job description and we may ask you to serve customers, help with purchasing or stock management or even attend national and international trade shows to represent Chards!  

Key Responsibilities  

Work towards the marketing strategy 

Attend daily/weekly meetings with Sales and Marketing Team where appropriate. 

Ensure tasks from these meetings are completed on time 

Perform market research on our competitors and the wider coin and bullion industry.  

Promote our brand and values in the marketplace via the website and in person whenever possible. 

To have an active role in the daily huddle 

Contribute to website features and suggest improvements to our developers.  

 

Coin & Bullion Market & Product Knowledge 

Be able to understand the effect of current affairs on the precious metal prices and currencies 

Keep up to date on current affairs and be the point of contact for customers and staff in this regard.  

Be able to collate reference sources both online and in the press to write relevant articles on our website.  

 

Online Content Marketing

Write high quality content for the websites, including product pages, articles and guides 

Assist the bullion manager in increasing online visibility via content SEO 

Engage with customers via social media, forums and mailshots to inform them of new content on the website and relevancy to their investments.  

Assist with the migration of numismatic content from our old sites into the new 

Keep staff briefed on the new pages.  

 

News Editor Role 

Monitor the market and news outlets for relevant items  

Create daily articles on our website regarding the bullion industry 

Add relevant market news to our website pages 

Keep staff up to date with both bullion and numismatic news 

Explore opportunities for guest editor articles on relevant websites and publication.  

 

Other  Responsibilities  

Assist the Bullion Manager in writing and submitting press releases 

Assist the Bullion Manager in building relationships with the media for all coin and bullion aspects. 

Be comfortable generating reports to highlight effectiveness of content updates and your general activity.

Always maintain our brand values.  

Ensure accuracy of reporting and take responsibility for errors 

Correct errors where they occur and report into the QMS.  

Maintain any customer confidentiality if it is applicable.  

Adhere to copyright legislation policy  

 

Ideal Candidate

  • Demonstrate digital marketing experience
  • Practice good time keeping
  • Have an ability to work in a team. 
  • A-C GSCE in English and Maths or equivalent.
  • Higher education is desirable especially in areas relevant to marketing or our industry
  • Be a quick learner
  • Enjoy responsibility for their own tasks
  • Be able to show good use of English grammar
  • Have a confident and friendly manner
  • Be able to work under pressure when needed
  • Have excellent calculation skills
  • Honest, trustworthy and conscientious
