The obverse of the eagle coin features Lady Liberty. It was designed by Adolph A. Weinman.
The reverse of the coin shows an eagle. 13 five-pointed stars appear above the eagle, representing the US colonies. It was designed by John Mercanti and has appeared on the coins since 1986.
