This is the half ounce version of the 2017 Perth Mint Chinese Lunar Silver Coins. Celebrating the Year of the Rooster, these coins are struck in 9999 fine silver. These bullion coins are sold as an investment product.
The Year of the Rooster starts on 28th January, 2017. This will be the Chinese year 4715. The rooster is the 10th of 12 animals in the Chinese lunar calendar.
Those born during the Year of the Rooster are said to be hardworking, observant, confident and honest.
There is no set mintage figures for the half ounce coins. The Perth Mint will produce them on a mint-to-order basis.

The Australian Year of the Rooster coins were released on 8th September, 2016 and we received our first allocation on 20th September.
The obverse features the Ian Rank-Broadley fourth portrait of Queen Elizabeth II. This is the same portrait as used on the other coins in the series.
The 2017 coin features a rooster, hen and three chicks on the obverse.
