In 2016, The Royal Mint issued a £5 coin to commemorate the 90th birthday of Queen Elizabeth II.
The coin was designed by the painter and sculptor, Christopher Hobbs. His mosaics have appeared in Westminster Cathedral.

The obverse of the coin shows the fifth definitive portrait of Queen Elizabeth II, by Jody Clark.
The design was inspired by the rose of England and The Queen's love of flowers. It shows nine roses, one for each decade of her life.
