Coin Specification

This silver proof £5 crown comes in a capsule and presentation box. It is issued with a certificate of authenticity from The Royal Mint. 


King Canute was coronated as the King of England in January, 1017. The coronation took place at the Old St Paul’s Cathedral. Canute (also known as Cnut the Great) was a viking ruler and also the King of Denmark and Norway. 

The obverse design shows the Jody Clark portrait of Queen Elizabeth II. 

The reverse was designed by Lee R Jones.  The text reads "1017 King Canute 2017".
