The "Nugget" is one of our most popular coins as the design changes each year. This is the one ounce version of the coin. This is an investment product.
The coins are referred to as 'nuggets' because from 1986 until 1989, various Australian gold nuggets were pictured on the reverse. From 1989, the design was changed to feature kangaroos instead of nuggets, possibly because they are though to be more synonymous with Australia.
The Ian Rank-Broadley portrait of Queen Elizabeth II is shown on the obverse.
The reverse shows a kangaroo, bounding across the Australian outback, with the moon in the background.
