Why Are Selling Prices So High?

A common question is why is there such a big difference between the intrinsic metal value and the actual price? You will pay a higher premium for silver compared to gold bullion. Generally, mints charge a higher premium on silver than they do on gold. They also charge a fee to deliver the silver bullion and then of course there is the VAT.
