In 2016, the Royal Mint launched a new bullion coin series, called The Queen's Beasts. As UK legal tender, these coins are exempt from CGT.

The Queen's Beasts

The inspiration behind this bullion coin series is the Queen's Beasts. These heraldic beasts stood guard at the coronation of Queen Elizabeth II, the longest reigning monarch in British history.

Each of the coins in the series will depict a different beast:

The beast designs have been created by the Royal Mint engraver, Jody Clark. His other work includes the fifth coinage portrait of Queen Elizabeth II, which features on the obverse of the coins.

The Queen's Beast coins are available in a variety of finishes. The bullion coins are issued in an uncirculated finish, these are the best choice for investors looking to buy precious metals at the lowest premiums.

The coins are also available for collectors in a proof finish and as a brilliant uncirculated £5 crown
