1889 Victoria Jubilee Head Silver Crown

The 1889 silver crown features the Jubilee portrait of Queen Victoria as designed by Joseph Edgar Boehm as the obverse, with the reverse design depicting the famed St Geroeg and the Dragon by Benedetto Pistrucci.

The Victoria Jubilee Head obverse design was adopted from 1887 for silver and gold coins only, and was continued until the old head portrait was introduced in 1893. It was the second major portrait type of Victoria's reign, and was introduced for the golden jubilee (50 years) of Queen Victoria's reign. She acceded to the throne in 1837.
The crown was still very much a currently circulating coin, most examples of crowns from this period occur in heavily worn condition.

Photographs shown may not be the actual coin and may differ in terms of grade, die numbers, design flaws and other minor details.
